I read Cynthia Bridges Feminist approach to Paul’s Letters and I was very intrigue by the idea of reading old religious texts with a feminist approach as it is not something that I had ever heard or even considered before but it does make a lot of sense. It is true that due to the time they were written a lot of this texts are androcentric and because feminism has only been a thing that society considers important in the past 150 years or so historically this was never questioned and if Paul’s letters where just some obscure minor text that few people care about it would not really matter but his letters are still widely studied today.

So if as religious texts not only do we try to deeply understand them but also apply them to current times the feminist approach, in largely androcentric texts that tend to put women down, is very important to comprehend Paul’s letter in a different way that applies to more modern times. A good example is as mentioned in the analysis that the 10th commandment says “you shall not covet your neighbors wife” because it is written for men, then a feminist looks at it and says well this applies for women too just change wife for husband.
